Inflation fears cause a huge decline in Wall Street

US stock indices closed sharply lower with the end of yesterday’s trading , due to escalating inflation fears after the Federal Reserve raised interest rates by 50 points at a meeting on Wednesday, and it is expected that interest rates will continue to be raised to more than 5% during the next year 2023. This has caused losses to the three main stock indices, so that ;

 

The Dow Jones Industrial Average decreased by 2.25%, while the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index fell by 2.49%, and the Nasdaq Index weakened by 3.23%. Losses were recorded in the technology and industrial sectors, in addition to the basic materials sector.

 

Japanese stock indices closed lower today, Friday, affected by the sharp decline witnessed by Wall Street, as the Nikkei index fell to its lowest level, recording a decline of 1.87%, to 27,527.12 points, while the broader Topix index fell by 1.2%. Recording 1950.21 points.

 

Oil futures rose during the Asian session on Friday by 0.45%, to trade in January at a price of $76.4 a barrel.

It was previously traded at a session high of $76.57 a barrel.

 

Gold futures rose by 0.01%, to trade in February at $1,788.05 an ounce.

It was previously trading at a session high of $1,793.95 an ounce.
